Mount Rushmore is South Dakota’s most prominent monument : the Presidential Trail allows visitors to get a closer look at the heads of the 4 presidents.  The work at Crazy Horse Memorial was begun in 1947 : so far the head and upper body portion of Cheif Standing Bear have been carved.  A large herd of bison roams the peaceful landscape of Custer State Park.  The dramatic landscape of Badlands National Park, consisting of uniquely formed hills and pinnacles, is strangely beautiful.   Nestled into the Black Hills, the city of Deadwood is a blast from the past.  Some of the biggest characters of the Wild West, including “Wild Bill” Hickok were shot on the streets of Deadwood.  Back in Sioux Falls, the murals of the Old Courthouse relate the history of the state.
