“Freedom That Takes You Places” - In the German-speaking region, Hapag-Lloyd Cruises is the leading cruise brand in the luxury and expedition segment. It currently has five ships in its fleet. Sustainability and the environment are of immense importance to Hapag-Lloyd Cruises. Since 2020, the whole fleet has been running on low-pollutant marine gas oil and forgoes heavy fuel oil entirely.
Hapag-Lloyd Cruises ships are small, individual and outstanding in their class : the EUROPA class of Hapag-Lloyd Cruises comprises the EUROPA and the EUROPA 2, the world’s best luxury ships and the only ships to receive the highest distinction of 5-stars-plus* from the Berlitz Cruise Guide. It offers the highest standard of cruise experiences with excellent service, varied cuisine, and exceptional routes around the world.
With the introduction of the identical newbuilds HANSEATIC Nature (May 2019), HANSEATIC Inspiration (October 2019) and HANSEATIC Spirit (August 2021), Hapag-Lloyd Cruises established a new class in its fleet and completed the modernization of its expedition fleet. The three small, extremely maneuverable and highly modern expedition ships of first-class standard have the highest ice class for passenger ships (PC6) and a very shallow draft. This makes them ideal for a wide range of passages – from the cold water of the polar regions to the warm water regions of the Amazon. Out of the new expedition class, the HANSEATIC Inspiration was specifically built and equipped for cruises in regions like the Great Lakes. The vessel has retractable outer bridges on both sides of the command bridge. These are necessary in order to be able to sail the Great Lakes in North America and to enable navigation through the narrow locks, such as those in the Welland Canal. In 2023 and in 2024 we will travel the Great Lakes for the first time on several itineraries. For more information on each itinerary, please see the following link www.hl-cruises.com
