In 2006 Philadelphia has celebrated the 300th anniversary of the birth of the writer, printer, physicist and inventor Benjamin Franklin.  This versatile man has drafted the Declaration of Independence with Thomas Jefferson and John Adams in 1776.  With this statement the foundation was laid for the origin of America’s history.   Jefferson, Adams, Franklin and George Washington were known for a long time as the Founding Fathers of the American nation.  They were seen as selfless advocates of freedom and democracy.  After the signature, Philadelphia became the capital in 1790 (until 1800) of a fast-growing American nation.  The rich history of this vast country can be found throughout the city.  Famous sights as Liberty Bell, Independence Hall and the National Constitution Center tell you more about the origin of the United States of North America.
