The exhibits and artifacts of the Michigan Historical Museum in Lansing range from an exploration of the region’s native populations through the state’s evolution and growth as it became what you see today.  The Detroit Institute of Arts is known for its expansive collection of humanity’s creative works from the earliest cultures through today.  Among the most coveted European works are paintings by Picasso, Rembrandt, Matisse and Van Gogh.  In Dearborn, a group of attractions known collectively as “The Henry Ford”,  includes the historic Greenfield Village, the Henry Ford Museum of American Innovation and the Ford Rouge Factory Tour, which allows visitors to witness the inner workings of an automotive factory.  Isle Royale lies in northwestern Lake Superior near the Canadian border.  Shaped by Ice Age glaciers, this island has many lakes and streams, dense forests and a variety of wildlife.  Windmill Island is a heritage park filled with manicured flower gardens and Dutch architecture, located in a place called… Holland !  The Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore is known for its expansive dunes that are perched on headlands along the shoreline.
